    Why does generate your own electricity have such a large impact on reducing your footprint?

    A. In most states (Tasmania being the exception) fossil fuels are used to generate eletricity, hence generating your own via PV cell on your roof removes the CO2 emissions associated with your power use. Thus the large drop in your footprint. Answer by Paul Redman-Brown
